This mountain cottage is the result of an enormously fun collaboration between owner and designer. The couple - recently married, wanted to merge their lifelong collections into one home and chose the Cashiers area. One of the prime considerations beyond the couple's love of casual French architecture was the desire to have grass and landscape around the cottage. We handled this with careful site work including a large retaining wall. The resulting cottage is classic French country, with small overtures to the Appalachian mountain vernacular. Inside, the traditional plaster walls, old wood ceilings, custom stair wrought iron and detailed trim add to the collection of paintings and furniture brought to the home by the owners to give the home an ageless feel.
